Heidi Joy Olson's parents met onstage so when she was born, her family was already developing the reputation of "the skit family". Her first musical was Dear Edwina, Jr. in 2007 at a small community theatre in Vermontville, MI. Throughout middle and high school, she performed onstage and worked behind the scenes as assistant stage manager, dresser, and sound engineer. She has now worked in theatre for over 25 plays and musicals. Some of her most challenging roles included Bottle Dancer in Fiddler on the Roof (2012), Ruth in The Pirates of Penzance (2013), and Mrs. Potiphar in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (2013).
It was during the latter two shows that Heidi really began to see the Lord's heart for storytelling. Studying under masters at the Lamplighter Guild in NY and Take It from the Top Broadway camp in Lansing, MI, she found that the stories she helped to tell grew her personal character and shaped the way she thought. A desire to share the power of theatre started to grow in Heidi's heart, and she began pursuing her Bachelor's in Psychology: Life Coaching from Liberty University Online so that she could better understand and work with people in the storytelling fields of the future.
In 2014, Heidi moved to Missouri and worked for two years at Sight and Sound Theatres. Working as an usher and shipping/receiving inventory clerk not only put her in touch with almost every department in the professional theatre but also equipped her with the necessary leadership skills for the next season of life.
In January 2017, Heidi moved back to Michigan and opened a voice acting business. Currently, Heidi freelances in voiceovers and sound engineering, production manages for Homeschool Performing Arts theatre camp, continues pursuing her Bachelor’s degree, directs a traveling troupe called Unmuted, and works in film alongside her brother Ben. She loves living the adventure of every day as a child of the King of Kings and sharing the joy of storytelling with people anytime she can!
