Story

In case you were wondering, it's pronounced "gloid," like "Lloyd," but with a "G."

Justin Gloyd is an author and cartoonist from Las Vegas, NV. Inspired by great cartoonists, writers, and artists (like Walt Disney, Genndy Tartakovsky, Charles Schulz, Doug TenNapel, and Mike Mignola, to name a few) he lives to create--new worlds to escape to, characters to relate to, stories to give into--he loves it all! Mainly focusing on a traditional and cartoony style, Gloyd uses his artwork to assist and accentuate his true passion: writing.

J.R. Gloyd enjoys writing in all mediums: scripts, narratives, poetry, illustrations, comics, etc. He also loves the idea of supporting original, fresh, and upcoming artists with talent, and enjoys working with them to tell his stories, as well as their own.

After a long period of soul-searching, and relocating to the Pacific Northwest, Gloyd began to seriously pursue his passions for the sake of loving what he does. Rather than chasing a future career, he began chasing his childhood dreams. His stories are his fuel to keep pressing on!

Gloyd lives with his little family in Seattle, WA.

Skills

My main gifts involve writing, cartoons, or a combination of the two. I like to think I have a knack for conveying a certain theme or message and causing an audience to feel a certain way.
My strengths are that I am independent and self-sufficient, and I like to plan things very tight and thoroughly when it comes to storytelling.
I am capable of writing in numerous forms: scripts, poetry, narratives, storyboarding, etc. I can use programs ranging from Adobe to Celtx, and I can illustrate traditionally, as well as digitally.

Journey

The Creative Journey
I had always wanted to be a cartoonist since I was a little kid (and when I figured out "mad scientist" wasn't actually a career). But, in recent years, what I'm finding out is that I truly love to write. Cartoons were just my medium of choice. I attended Las Vegas Academy of Visual and Performing Arts and was geared up to pursue a career in these fields all the way through high school... then, life happened.

I struggled to keep up the passion over the following years and somehow got lost in the deep, dark forest of adulthood. When I bounced back, I became obsessed with the idea that financial success was the definition of following your dreams. I stressed and worried over logistics and how many "likes" I was getting online. This burnt me out even more so, to the point of considering throwing in the towel...

It wasn't until God showed me that the real joy of what I love to do is simply in doing it. I closed down all my schenanigans and endeavors, and began to write and draw for myself, and for Him. It was then that I re-learned what I learned from the very beginning: success is doing what you love and sharing it. What happens after that is up to the Lord.
The Faith Journey
Typical story: I accepted the Lord at a young age and I grew up in a Christian church and family environment. Then, ended up being moved to Messianic Judaism with my family. Hoo boy, did that change things! It has certainly had its ups and downs, but, overall, it has brought me closer to Yeshua (Jesus) and taught me that I am NEVER done learning.
