StoryZack is a producer, director, and actor who has been working in film and video production since 2004. He’s worked on indie productions across the country, including California, New York, Colorado, and Texas. If you ask about any part of the filmmaking process, pre- to post-production, in front of or behind the camera, chances are he’s done something in that area.
Starting as a grip on local commercial shoots, he’s worked on broadcast television shows, web series, children’s DVD programming, promotional media, short and feature-length films. His feature film directing debut, In His Steps, was released nationwide in February 2015, and he was the producer/host of the Indy Christian Review web series, which concluded with its 100th episode in December 2015. Since 2013, he has taught filmmaking classes at the Rocky Mountain Christian Filmmakers Camp, and taught at the 2015 the Masterworks Festival. |

Journey
The Creative Journey
My filmmaking journey began with the discovery of Star Wars fan films in 2001. As an avid Star Wars fan, I immediately wanted to make my own stories in the Star Wars universe. The more I played with the camera, the more I wanted to tell my own stories in my own worlds. I had the blessing of a very supportive father, Ken Lawrence, who helped guide me and found opportunities for me to grow and hone my skills, taking me to events like NAB and DV Expo, and finding a local video production company for me to intern at.
Along the way, we found communities of Christian filmmakers who shared our desire to make movies and shows that glorified God. These contacts led to the creation of the Rocky Mountain Christian Filmmakers Camp at my family's home in Coloraod in 2007, which was the first small group, hands-on filmmaking workshop that focused on Christian filmmaking. (I started as a student, but became the instructor of the camp in 2013!)
Jump to 2009, and my newly wed wife and I officially founded our own film production company, Standing Sun Productions. In 2015 our first feature film, IN HIS STEPS, was released nationwide by Bridgestone Multimedia, and our short film FREE: A DELANTARE STORY won Best Sci-fi Film at the 2016 Paonia Film Festival.
Lord willing, there's no end in sight!

The Faith Journey
I was raised in a Christian home, and am a "Pastor's Kid." I accepted Christ when I was 9, and have had the immense blessing of being guided by my parents to keep the faith through childhood and into adulthood.
